Porto Rico Importing Co

Everything we've written about Porto Rico Importing Co., the Greenwich Village coffee and tea merchant selling beans since 1907.

Porto Rico Importing Co. is one of New York City's oldest coffee merchants. It was founded in 1907 in Greenwich Village, and its flagship at 201 Bleecker Street still sells coffee by the pound from sacks and bins. Dozens of single-origin coffees, house blends, flavored coffees, decafs and loose-leaf teas are ground to order for espresso, drip, French press or pour-over.

Porto Rico Importing has long been known for fair prices on whole-bean coffee. It also sells wholesale to cafés, restaurants and offices. Our full guide to Porto Rico Importing Co. covers its history, what to buy, how to shop like a regular and how wholesale works. For more New York coffee, read about Mountain Province, the Williamsburg café that served beans from the highlands of the Philippines.
